Welome to our website! Under the guidance and leadership of Steve Kochan, the Rock Hall Sailing Club was established in 1989 at The Sailing Emporium in Rock Hall, Maryland. Our Club by-laws describe
its purpose: The Sailing Emporium remains our home port, though our members are scattered throughout the adjacent marinas and beyond. Our acitivities include cruises, informal club races and a variety of social events. Children are welcomed, and many Club events include activities specifically for their enjoyment. This year's bridge officers are as follows:
Tom King (Mystic Rose) - Commodore Keri Ames (Felicidad) - Vice-Commodore Sharon Senall (Discovery) - Secretary Don Johnson (Jordis) - Treasurer Mary Jo Harris (Circe) - Cruise Captain Christian Sunkler - Race Captain
We're glad to have a full complement of executive committee members and are all looking forward to another wonderful sailing, cruising, racing and socializing season on the Bay. We also have some volunteers to help manage a couple of sub-committees.
Charlie Cheeseman (Impatience/Vision Quest II) will be the 2009 Crab Feast chairman. This is the same position Charlie volunteered for last year and we're anxiously awaiting another award winning performance from Charlie and all the volunteers that help with this big event. Save the date of August 22 for this years Crab Feast.
Robert Mattie (Resolution) is the 2009 Dock Captains Committee chairman. Each dock will be asked to decide on one member to become their Dock Captain and represent their interests back to the executive committee. Robert and the individual Dock Captains will help make sure that everyone on their dock is aware of the club, communicate what is going on with the club and our schedule and help non-members become active RHSC members.
Although not currently shown on our RHSC 2009 Calendar, plans are in the making for a club auction. Bill Knowles (Wild Goose) has "vounteered" to act as auctioneer and could use a little help promoting the event and gathering those treasures we all have stored in our lockers and basements that we know someone else would love to have.
Renee Mattie and Rose King will lead the Nominating Committee. Please make sure that Rose and Renee know if you have an interest in becoming an executive committee member in the future.
Bill Bickley (Chardonnay) will continue as our Webmaster and e-mail distribution specialist.
